retreats and days of reflection

When we participate in a retreat, we withdraw from the world as we know it, giving ourselves the chance to relocate, uncover and rediscover our center (where God dwells.) In the empty space we create by our pulling away from our everyday routines, where to-do lists and should’ve-could’ves reign, new “stuff” can enter, and the good stuff already there can stretch a bit, move around and grow.

With the removal from “the real world,” we can see it more clearly as it is, without judgment or anxiety, shame or pride—just honesty. God so often communicates to us through surprises, interruptions and chance encounters, as well as feelings, thoughts, and perceptions. On retreat, Divine Providence is very busy engineering serendipity, giving unexpected gifts and bestowing grace.

The weekend retreats and days of reflection are described in the following pages:

Writing to Pray
Biblical Narrative

In this weekend retreat we will explore the stories of our lives by engaging in writiing exercises which follow the conventions of biblical narrative. By doing so, we will find nuanced patterns and threads within and between our own personal experiences, perceptions and thoughts. This will lead us to discovering the presence and action of the Lord in our lives in yet a new way. This weekend retreat is scheduled for 9/9 to 9/11 at Our Lady of Hope in New Ipswich, NH. Contact Sisters Rita or Suzanne to register; olhope1@yahoo.com, or 603-878-2346.
